The Question You Should Be Asking Yourself...Why?

When I tell people what I do, it doesn’t always sound very exciting. I know it sounds crazy but it can be hard to make things like bookkeeping, taxes, and accounting procedures sound glamorous (insert sarcasm). So even if I personally find all of those things exciting, it’s the “why” of what I do that really lights me up.

I love talking with business owners about why they started their businesses. There is so much to be learned from the experiences of entrepreneurs, through both their triumphs and their mistakes. Self-employment is not always the easiest route but I’ve found so many business owners to be passionate and excited about what they do, despite the hardships. It was through these conversations that I realized the need small business owners have for guidance when it comes to the finances of their business. The accounting-side of business can be confusing and cause a lot of anxiety for business owners. Through Apex Virtual Accounting, we have the opportunity to help business owners feel less anxious and more empowered to make informed decisions for their business.

During my career I have been fortunate enough to work alongside some incredible people and do work that I have enjoyed. However, I didn’t always feel like I was making a difference working with larger corporations. Small businesses account for 99.9 percent of all U.S. businesses (SBA, 2019). They are the heart of our communities and what brings character to our Main Streets. This is what motivated us to start Apex Virtual Accounting. Small businesses are vital to our economy and we have the knowledge to make a difference. We can provide education, guidance, and support to business owners that feel overwhelmed about the accounting-side of their business so that they can focus on growth and areas of their business that they enjoy.

There are so many people that have an idea to create what could be a successful business but it never becomes anything more than that, an idea. So if you’ve taken that risk to start out on your own, whether it’s already blossomed into a successful business or you’re still in the trenches of balancing a full-time job while running that side hustle, I admire you.

One of the aspects of Apex Virtual Accounting that excites me the most, is the chance to work with other business owners that are in the thick of their own entrepreneurial journey. Not only can we bring value to those we work with but there is so much we can learn from our clients, both current and future. We are excited to bring you content, courses, and services that will help you take your business to that next level. Please do not hesitate to reach out, ask questions, and let us know what is your why?
